The most popular beach of Gythio is Mavrovouni, placed at approximately 2 km to the south of the town, right below Mavrovouni village. Mavrovouni beach extends for over 6 km and is the largest one around Gythio; it is sandy and has small pebbles in the sea floor.
This beach is fairly recognised as one of the best beaches in Mani. The beach is ideal for water sports.
From the south end of the beach in Vathi, a great coastline reaches to the village of Ageranos where the war-tower of Antonompei stands. After the village you'll reach the beach of Kamari and the wide bay of Skoutari
